It was a roller coaster ride I must say. When I joined the course, I thought it will be a revision for whatever I have learned, but it was not so easy. As you are aware, we have chosen a course keeping in mind our busy work schedule. And upGrad catered this course keeping in mind our psychography and demographics.
However over the journey, since Oct 31 our experiences are gradually deteriorating. Collectively, we have faced many tech, content, live session issues and too tight deadlines. We highly request the team to take cognisance of the matter with regards to the points mentioned below:
1. A lot of glitch wrt logging into upGrad be it via app or through website - this hampers our flow of study and timelines which eventually we have to pay the price thanks to the strict deadlines. We request the team that if glitch issues stay for a user for over 24 hrs then the student should be given compensatory time and not penalise them.
2. We had issues wrt inactive camera / mic on the upGrad portal for doubt solving sessions - that was solved however some professors limited us to strictly use chat and not to turn up our mics for doubts. This felt very restrictive for most of us. Certain professors seemed to be on these doubt solving sessions merely as a job and not as leaders to train us.
3. We had one session with an international external speaker << name >> on YouTube and Instagram. This session turned out to lead towards a very unprofessional route. Especially in terms of speakers own presentation on camera and her ability to explain content on each slide was rather amateur. It seemed as though she was reading a PPT someone else had created where she had no clue what she was speaking. We requested for a rescheduling of this session. Sadly until date nothing is done about it.
4. Project deadlines seem to be getting added and are quite tight for most of us to complete given our professional commitments. We request flexibility and expect upGrad to help us achieve our desired goals in an organised and planned manner. While the first module began we also had communications module unlocked. But we are told communication module projects aren’t graded. If it isn’t graded then it should be mentioned, if not graded then why have the course? How do we as students know what we have shared is up to the mark? Same way, many such issues make the journey of studying depreciate tremendously day by day.
5. Parallel live sessions - With added new non-academic live sessions, we have noticed many of them overlapping on our module - live lectures. If we can’t be part of it then what is the point of having it? Each student in each elective should have equal time and opportunity to be part of all scheduled lectures.
6. Doubts clearing sessions - many doubt clearing sessions are aligned 2 days post the module is unlocked. This isn’t helping us students as it is too early a time for us to have any doubts. This wastes luxurious time of the teacher. Rather the same should be limited to two days of doubts clearing 1 day before module completion.
We feel our time or funds that we have invested with this course in upGrad seems to be more deadline oriented than learning.
While I was in the hunt for a course and checked upGrad, I was approached by a sales representative thanks to direct marketing. However, after their motivation and promises of the course, I was advised to pay the full amount. The team ensured I paid the amounts on time. However after that, there were no service calls neither any call to keep me abreast with next phase of my learning. It felt more like a sales/business deal closure rather than a human’s quest to knowledge.

My upGrad learning journey was a roller coaster ride full of ups and downs but I enjoyed every bit of it. I wish I came across this program earlier on in my career but nevertheless I'm glad I came across it and passed out with flying colours. Even though it was an online learning program I feel like I learnt so much in detail about digital marketing that I probably wouldn't have, if I would have been in a classroom because I'm always distracted. Every video of every chapter had so much of information and knowledge to grasp which made it more interesting.
