WIthout Deakin and upGrad's association, I dont think there would have been any other way I would have been able to do an MBA. Though the journey was filled with ups and downs, both in my professional and personal life.
However, I am proud to say that I had never taken any extensions during my program. 10:00 pm to 12:00 pm was my study time, irrespective of whether I was travelling on the job or being at home. This is the time which I utilised the most.
Clear communication with family is also important about the goals and assignment deadlines so that proper scheduling can be done.
While the specific outcomes vary for each individual, but for me, it equiped me with a comprehensive understanding of various business disciplines such as finance, marketing, strategy, operations, and leadership. This knowledge provides a solid foundation to make informed decisions and tackle complex business challenges.
It helped me to connect and collaborate with an expanded professional network. The rigours of an MBA program challenges me to stretch my intellectual capabilities, enhance my critical thinking skills, and improve my problem-solving abilities. It also enhanced my communication and presentation skills, as well as my ability to work effectively in teams. My learning journey with upGrad, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been profoundly meaningful. This was my second master's degree, but it was the first one I pursued virtually - a mode of learning that presented both unique opportunities and challenges.
The shift to online learning allowed me to balance my demanding workload at the hospital during these trying times, while also dedicating time to my studies. The flexibility it offered enabled me to learn at my own pace, even as I actively contributed to critical healthcare services.
However, a significant challenge was managing the time zone differences with my groupmates. We found ourselves adapting to unusual schedules, with some waking as early as 5 am and others, like myself, staying awake until 2 am (HK time) for Zoom meetings and task preparations.
These experiences, albeit challenging, were memorable. They tested my adaptability and honed my time management skills, a competency that I believe will serve me well in my professional pursuits.
It's true that there were times when I wasn't as proactive as I could have been, preferring to focus more on work and family than on the coursework. Nevertheless, my primary aim was to acquire new skills and up-to-date knowledge about the business mindset and remind myself to WORK-HEALTH-BALANCE and STUDY-SMART. I deeply appreciated the feedback and guidance from tutors, whose comments resonated with me and were instrumental in enhancing my comprehension of the tasks at hand.
Regrettably, I may not be able to attend today's full event due to other commitments. However, I am confident that we will all continue to grow and succeed in our respective fields, drawing from the rich learning experiences we had with upGrad and DeakinU.
